Oh yeah! new it was here when I had horse hair in the mouth. I find Febrauary is the start, as they are shedding their winter coat. August is another shedding month as they shed out the summer in prep for winter. You will also notice your dogs and cats shed at the same time.

Nothing here yet in Northern Ontario, but Lisa's fur has started to change colours -- it always seems to brown out a bit before she sheds, so it's coming!!!

All of mine are shedding now. It was 91 yesterday! I don't think I'm ready to jump right into summer.......I hope we get a decent spring.

Upnover & missy06, I never thought of the sun really having an impact, but come to think of it, it has been very sunny here, and Jubilee's coat has felt very warm. Interesting...

I'm really surprised some of you farther north are having shedding already. Ours started about 3 weeks ago but our "normal" average temps this time of year is 40-50'sF (4-10C). We have been unusually warm with highs near 80. It turned Very cold a few nights ago. I felt sorry for the poor kids since I had taken the shedding blade to them earlier in the week

Yes!!! Maverick (the horse I've been riding!) is starting to shed a WHOLE lot. Ughh. Daytona isn't as much...but he sure is, LOL. It's a pain in the butt.

Ride more, worry less.

Indy has completely finished shedding.

Well I guess I shouldn't say completely because hair is coming out, but his coat is very thin and soft, definitely NOT his winter coat.

BUT we are preparing for 9 - 14 inches of snow tonight & 4 - 6 more tomorrow... Poor baby. I'm glad he has his heavy blanket on tonight!
