Update on Annie. I kept her up and walking all night because someone told me it was colic. But, I've seen colic before and I honestly do not think thats what it was. This morning she finally started to drink some water. And I've been hosing her down with cold water. She also has her appetite back. She is still acting kind of sluggish but she is back to normal as in eating and drinking. I will be keeping her up again tonight just to keep an eye on her. Thank you everyone who posted.

Sounds like you did well! The most important thing might be to keep her drinking. I had an old 33 year old with mild colic this week, due to not eating/drinking in the heat. I ended up using a paste wormer to get some table salt mixed with applesauce into him; it made him thirsty. Vet also brought me some electrolytes and recommended that we add those as well. I would bet that you're right, it wasn't colic - I think she got too hot. However, if she wasn't drinking, or her body was too stressed from the heat, colic might be next. I think you were very wise to stay on top of it like you did!

Glad she is better. I still don't think it would be a bad idea to have a vet look at her.

So in lies the madness, the pursuit of the impossible in the face of the complete assurance that you will fail, and yet still you chase.

Sounds like heat stress to me. I've been going through something similar with my big bay mare. Once they've had heat stress they're more prone to it.

If you're worried about electrolytes, give her an apple. Works just as well as the expensive stuff, and they're more likely to get enough.
