my mare has a beesting

Last night I noticed that my mare had a big swelling from a beesting on her neck. I couldn't find the sting so I can only assume she has rubbed it out somehow. I know it was a beesting because a) its happened before b) she always insists on rubbing herself on the tree that is covered with bees.

Anyway, today she has a really big swelling on her neck and its really itchy. Its there anything I can give her or rub on the site to make her less itchy?

EDIT: I forgot to say, that otherwise she's completely fine - she's not allergic to beestings or anything.

I'd say she is having an allergic reaction just as people do,just not severe maybe. Wish I knew what to tell you as far as to put on it to take the swelling and itch away.

Do what I do for us when we get stung, rub deodorant on the spot. Really, it works.

I put hydrocortisone cream on mine!

You know how to make a miniature horse even smaller? Leave them in the dryer a little longer!

This advice is from my human medical files but, I think it will work here as well..

Ice pack/bag being that part of the skin/dermis kinda resembles ours,
That's what (and I have tried them all!) drops the swelling the quickest..
The "crush them and use them" bags seems to work the best.

Us too if it really bothers them, otherwise we just leave them and the welt is usually gone in a day or so.
Luckily, our mares have learned not to mess with bees (the yellow jackets can be nasty around here).
