Mares usually go into heat about once every 21-27 days. If she is in heat more frequently all spring/summer then you should consider having a vet exam and repro palpation to see if she's got a repro problem. If this only occurs very early and very late in the year it MIGHT be because mares stop going into heat during the winter months and when they start back to having normal heat cycles and when they stop having normal heat cycles due to the time of year they will often have some odd heats.
