Question Neck Bandage

Could I have some help my horse has a neck wound on her neck closer to her shoulder and I can't get any bandages to stay. Is there any tape you recommend? Also I have tried a tensor bandage but it wont stay! She goes out in the pasture all day so I want something to cover the cut so that she wont roll and get it dirty. The cut is 4inches long and about an inch deep or a little more. Help!!!!

Do you have a picture of the area in question? My immediate thought was you may have to go with something that looks more like a harness (ie wrap around girth, go across shoulder, between legs, etc.).

I'd put a thick ointment on it and plan on cleaning it once a day. No bandage.

Furo something. Thick yellow antibiotic cream. Slather it on. The flies don't like it. If the wound isn't dirty, just apply more ointment.

4 inches long & over 1 inch thick would need stitches, I would think.

Too late to stitch it if she's already taking about it getting dirty and bandages not staying on.

That's true. I guess I was assuming the wound was found in a timely manner.

Well I found the wound 2 days ago, and yes its too late to do stitches, but the swelling is down and it looks healthier. So I'm not to worried but I just want it to be kept clean and I am putting bag butter on. Which is an antiseptic for cattle.
