Need advice on what to do till the vet comes!!!

So heres the story.. our gelding can be very jealous... and is obviously the "Man" of the 2 horse heard... so we always feed him first, then our little yearling... well today he decided his pile of hay wasnt as good as Raynes looked... and he went at her.. she freaked and turned to run, and managed to slice her foot directaly above the hoof right open...

I have washed it all out and there is NO dirt in it... the vet wont be out till tomorrow evening..... usually I know what to do for cuts and scrapes, but im really concerned about where the cut is.... she is not putting any weight on it what-so-ever.. we have her stalled up at the moment

Just put a clean,dry bandage on it w/ some pressure. No meds/salves unless it will be days till your vet gets there. Ask vet for recomendation as to a topical.

Im jus scared that its going to ruin her foot and make her lame permanintly :(

Put a thick, clean piece of gauze over it and wrap the whole hoof with elastoplast. Then wrap some duct tape or other waterproof, durable tape over the to keep it dry and in place until the vet comes. Don't touch it any more than that. All you want to do is keep it clean and still - the more you touch an injury like that the worse you can make it.
If you have it available, you can give her a sachet of bute tonight, but otherwise I wouldn't give her any other pain relief until the vet arrives as he/she may want to assess exactly how lame she is on it.
