Need feed help...

So I have been bringing back my TB from being 500lbs underweight. He is finally at a spot we like, could use some more, but its more like he needs muscle and redistribute the weight he has. I recently moved him closer to home so I can ride him. He is on 24/7 turnout with GOOD grass. They have round bales out in the fields but choose the grass instead. I originally had him on 3lbs of TC senior feed, 10 pills of Vitamin E, and Corti-flx. I now am putting him into work and probably would classify him at the moment in light work to eventually be in moderate. He is a 17H TB that is built like a Warmblood.

I understand that a horse on average eats about 1.5lbs per hour on grass and only eat it for about 19hrs. So hes getting about 28lbs of forage which is above normal when looking at what feed bags tell you to feed. Does anyone have suggestion on what to feed and how much? I essentially only want the feed to replace calories lost when working since the grass is rich in vitamins and minerals.

not all grass is equal in calories and nutrients. this sounds like a adjust as you go scenario. if he looses or gains a little adjust his feed accordingly.

The rescue swears by Cocosoya syrup as a weight gainer. We've also had good results with Omegatin, which can be purchased at TSC for about 25 dollars for twenty pounds.

You could also try giving him alfalfa or timothy pellets with his grain.
