Need Help and Advice for EPM Case

A friend's horse was recently diagnosed with EPM. My friend is currently battling breast cancer and has just undergone a radical mastectomy. She will also be dealing with chemo and radiation. She is in no condition to take care of the horse or pay for his treatment with her own mounting medical bills.

We know that the Marquis would be the best thing for the horse, but the expense is too much for my friend. The vet has put the horse on Tucoprim and bute. Has anyone had any success treating an EPM case with this combination? Or success treating with something other then Marquis?

We are also going to be trying to raise funds locally so that we can purchase the Marquis for the horse. Does anyone know if there are any organizations that might help with the cost? Will any suppliers discount the Marquis for hardship cases?

The horse is currently in my care so that my friend can concentrate on her own recovery. We are working with a vet, but any advice that I can get from someone who has been through this would be appreciated.
