new horse, worrying like a new momma!!!!

Hi there,
So this is my first post about my first horse! I just got him 3 weeks ago and had a tiny question (among many others!) I went into his stall the other day and noticed he had a small scrape (little bigger than a quarter) on his forhead. Looked like just the hair had been scrapped off so I thought id just leave it alone. Today it looks like a little bit of skin was removed too. So my question is what would you guys do? Should I put some tyope of ointment on it? What would you use to clean and help it heal? Will the hair grow back eventually? Thank a bunch :0)

Ps I can't seem to download any pictures of him on here! I've tried over and over but it says upload failed, has anyone had that problem?

Sounds like he got in a scuffle with a friend, or banged his head on something accidentally =) I remember the days of himmin' and hawin' over all the little boo-boos! Though that cut looks awful (with it being on his head and all) it doesn't sound like anything life threatening ^^

Whenever that happens to my horses, I put Triple Antibiotic (Human Neosporin) on it =) It helps it heal faster, keeps it soft, and keeps it from getting infected! The hair will grow back in most cases too.

As for the pictures... maybe they aren't Jpegs? Or they are too large in size? What does the error message say?

Welcome to the forum hun!

Depending on where the scrape is would decide what medicine. Since it sounds like just a scrape I wouldn't worry to much about it. If it's anywhere near his eyes don't put anything on it that might run into his eyes. A lot of those creams tend to do that...although I'm in Texas so it everything gets hot and runny here.
