New mare sweats...a lot!?

Our new 4 yr old mare sweats profusely. She does have thin skin. She will be sweaty out in the field and after riding. Yesterdat after riding her I put the saddle back in tack room and put saddle pad on top of saddle upside down because it was literally gelding never sweat like her or any other horse I have had. I actually had to move it to another saddle rack as I didn't want it soaking through to my saddle. The cotton girth I had used made a puddle on the floor! I know its good to sweat but should I be concerned about the amount of sweat? Thanks!

My new mare was the same way when I got her & it was cold out. She would sweat walking. I was a bit worried too but I think it was just nerves as she is normal now though it is hot & she is working harder.
If something upsets her while in pasture she sweats a lot too. Nerves.
Just curious, what color is your horse?

I had a mare like that, she was a very nervous horse under saddle and would be drenched in sweat no matter how fit she was. It did eventually get less but there were certain activities that would always make her super sweaty. You could always call your vet about it though, I'm sure they could give you some advice!

Make sure she has access to salt licks or salt/mineral blocks at all times.

But do not even THINK of adding a salt/electrolyte supplement to her daily feed without consulting your vet first!!!!

she is a 4 yr. old buckskin and we have only had her since June 18th. So far she has always for us sweat a lot, but yesterday I took her out alone and she was not near as confident and nervous, but a good girl just the same. Thanks and I will talk to my vet!
