Nishka's weight loss - last year and now

We've really started to crack down on my paint cross' weight issue. Began soaking her hay, put her on a fixed work schedule (we really upped the hill work, she seemed to enjoy it the most), and cut grazing entirely out of her diet. We stopped soaking her hay in the winter and haven't soaked it since, but her weight hasn't seemed to have increased at all. Thought I'd share our improvement so far - I'd still like to see more come off but we're well on our way there!

Before photo was April of last year, and the after was taken a few days ago. Excuse her being so dirty, she got herself covered in sap the day I took the photo

I'd love to hear what the rest of you think, so I'm not going by my own judgement. Any advice or constructive criticism is appreciated!

Boy, if it weren't for her coloring I'd say they were two different horses!
You are doing a great job.

Wow! She's looking good! I don't see a cresty neck on her now. You're making great strides in improving her health and preventing health problems down the road. Congrats! Keep doing what your doing :)

Thank you! The way her weight and colour fluctuate, I'm convinced she is two different horses

This was her as a 2 year old (she's 6 or 7 now)

Weird, huh?

She looks so much happier in second photo at top. Ear up, eyes alert. Great job.

Looking great!!! Just curious, how many times a week were you working her? I'm trying to get some weight off my mare and 3-4 times a week is pretty much the most I can get up and I'm not sure if it's enough.
