odd... very odd - what do you think?

This was an add I saw on the forum page.

Seeing as equine influenza is caused by a virus I don't see how an antifungal and antibiotic can work

I also don't get how it improves lung capacity - I didn't know that was possible (apart from exercise and conditioning). Besides, how do you measure lung capacity on a horse? (now Flash, take a deep breath and breath out as fast as you can into this balloon...) And if you can measure a horse's lung capacity, how do they know it even works?

It sounds a bit fishy to me... what do you think?

You are correct, antibiotic and antifungal products will not prevent Equine Influenza because it is a virus. I don't know anything about Australian law as it concerns drugs vs. supplements, so I can't tell who why they can make this claim. But it does bring their whole spiel into question doesn't it?

As for lung capacity, it can be measured---it's just not something you can do in the average veterinary setting. It requires a special setup. I don't know how much of this claim is based upon fact/research rather than personal experience and we all know that personal experience can be rather biased and not terribly accurate.

I can see how it would work sort of. It sounds just like a saline nasal spray. Kind of like what you use on babies. Babies under 6 months can't have meds so if they get congested you use saline nasal spray to just clear things outs and it prevents the cold from setting in.
