Last summer Fella got an mild infection in one of his eyes because of his fly mask. Vet said I needed to remove it and clean it with a mild bleach solution every once in a while to kill bacteria that would grow and flourish on it (especially during rainier weeks). I cleaned his mask and next day he was back to normal. He wears his 24/7.
I take his off every night and when he goes WAY out back where there are foxtails because my mare got one caught under her mask and in her ear I brought him in from the back for shoeing this morning and he seemed fine then I noticed his eye so maybe there is a fox tail in here?

It could be - any luck with the vet? I hope you can get someone out. Just keep an eye on it. Poor boy.

{{{{Hugs to you!}}}

ETA: I see you got an appointment. I know it stinks when they don't feel good and you feel like there's nothing you can do, but you are doing good stuff by flushing it out. And I'm positive by you being there it makes him feel better!

I am so pathetic *accepts hugs* I want to go out there and just sleep with him till freakin 5pm tomorrow that's forever It doesn't seem to bother him as much as it bothers me because he still eats like a pig and drinks fine. His ears are perky and happy, you wouldn't know anything was wrong if I hadn't taken off that fly mask.

I hope that the vet comes sooner then 5! I was thinking that maybe the fly mask is bothering him too ... my one mare could wear one all day long and my gelding has a big head and it touches his eyes- needless to say I don't leave one on him. Maybe it is making contact with that eye when he puts his head down or sometime when you are not around... just a thought- good luck and keep us posted!

Evil fox tail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got out there to check his eye this morning and give him a bucket of part of his breakfast. I notice his eye is a little more open and not weeping. I look in the corner of his eye and see a fox tail! Evil bugger I call my boyfriend out to hold D and I couldn't get it out with my figure because it was stuck in the corner of his eye so I rip my t-shirt off (it's 100%cotton or feels like it so it's nice and soft) and my boyfriends eyes do something like this: ... LMAO because I don't wear a bra to bed but anyways so here I am topless in my field trying to get this fox tail out. After about not even 5 minutes I get the offender out! YAY he opens his eye perfectly now and I rised it off one more time. I am going to watch it for the rest of the day and if it seems fine I MIGHT not call the vet out. Knowing me and what a worry wart I am I probably will have him come out just to make sure he's ok. Better safe than sorry no
OH and the best part I am walking back into the house and sed bf says:
"So if I get a fox tail in my eye will you take your shirt off again?" LMFAO
