Thanks! I'm glad he's doing better to!

I was so worried that he got his eye, but i'm so glad he didn't.

Wow! What a nasty surprise! I'm glad he didn't injured his eye! Horses are just BRILLIANT to find spots to scratch themselves.
I doubt you can find out what happened. But I'm sure he'll be fine again in no time!

I found Jemma last summer with scratched head all over (sides, behind ears, etc. etc.). UGLY looking (although not deep thank God!). Turned out she somehow stick her big head between the gate and the post and got stuck. So when she pulled through she also pulled good chunk of skin off her silly head...

How did I miss this??? I'm so sorry this sucks!!

I'd go out and check the hay ring, it could be something as simple as slag from a weld that can be easily filed/cut off. Run your hands around all the tubing. If it was from the ring, I'd make sure it couldn't happen again.

Not may people use it anymore but does that bale have baling wire used on it to hold it together? I came across one bale last year that had wire on it... Odd I know but worth thinking about.

I also would'nt rule out a kick. Top dogs get told off from time to time. Someone may have been challenging him and got in a shot.
