Overseeding Pasture

Hi, All. Just read an old post about overseeding a pasture with rye and oats. We'll be doing that on 2 acres this week with a broadcast spreader. Any idea on the rate to spread this? What I've seen online is all over the place. Thanks!

The rate should be on the seed bag. I can't remember how much we used when we overseeded with oats. It wasn't as much as what we would have used if we were actually planning to harvest the oats - I'm thinking it was about half. Can't tell you anything on the Rye, though.

Just curious - on your Rye - is it perinneal or annual rye?

RE: Overseeding Pasture

Yeah, unfortunately they are generic bags of seed - plenty of nutrition info, light on instructions. We're using annual rye. Our pasture had nice bahaia for a while but was being overtaken by a neighbors centipede. So, a little maintenance for the winter and hopefully the bahaia will be back in the spring. Thanks!
