    Pigeon fever

My horse has pigeon fever. He had it for 3 1/2 weeks before it was lanced. It has been draining for a few days now. Of course, we've separated him from the rest; he's in a small round pen attached to a barn. Since he's had the pigeon fever, he's lost some muscle tone from not being ridden. Now that he's over there he's lost even more and he's lost weight. He doesn't look bad, but he's skinnier, and he's lost muscle especially in his hindquarters. I have two questions-how long, once he's back on pasture, will he begin to put weight on again? And about how long will it take to get him reconditioned? (for riding)
