Unhappy The Pony Is Lame.. vet booked.

She is very reluctant to put weight on it, back left, swelling in fetlock and halfway to hock, slight heat. She is fairly happy to flex her fetlock all the way back but will not stretch it out forwards, almost as if the tendon is contracted.

She is 13hh, 3yrs old, paddocked with 2 other horses.

Any ideas on what this might be? Hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. Vet will be out at 12:30 - 1:00 pm..

Thanks

It could be so many things. It could be an abscess or she may have gotten kicked. If there is heat, then cold hosing couldn't hurt until the vet can see her.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog: http://robertsontraining.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the advice, it turns out it was an abcess fairly high up in her hoof wall, the swelling was cellulitis(I htink that's the term)? Anyway she is on penecillan and bute :)

Never new an abcess could cause swelling!
