Poop problems

My mini mare has been having poop problems for like 3 years and I have no idea why. The vet couldn't find anything wrong with her, her weight is good, and she is dewormed regularly. She poops normally (formed) and then the rest is all fluid. It squirts out all through her tail and all over her stall walls. Fluid even comes out when she passes gas. She acts fine. Appetite is normal and drinks plenty. Her tail is all clumped with poop and is really nasty. I have tried ProBios and it did nothing. Anything I can do for her? The vet even took a fecal on her and it was normal.

Trouble with fiber digestion. Try vet soft hay, or soaked hay cubes.

I knew a mare that was ingesting berries that are a little bit toxic for horses (deadly for humans). She had these same exact symptoms. Maybe she is allergic to something you are feeding her? Or he is eating something funny out at pasture?

Green Broke
I have an old gelding that does the same during the winter. Other than being a nasty mess it doesn't seem to affect his health & well being. My vet said it's pretty common in older horses that cannot chew hay well. Being on a complete Sr. Feed does not help. Once grass comes back in the spring he can eat that and the issue clears up.

One thing with yours being a mini, I know mine require 2nd cutting hay as they can't handle the stemmier 1st cutting.

First thing comes to mind is acidosis. Too much starch/sugar hitting the hind gut, if feed is too rich for her. Next thing is nutrition, particularly not enough magnesium. What's her diet? What's her condition?

I have a formally neglected mare that does that! Though when she was first rescued the vet said her intestines had basically shrunk and then expanded so she holds a lot more digested food then a normal horse.

As I said above, find her the softest hay possible, maybe even soak it. My Arab had that, it took me 3 years to figure it out. He was fine within 24 hours when on pasture. I soaked his extra soft hay and he made it through the winter without the mess.

fluid, mare, poop, runny, tail
