My vet runs her practice out of the place where I board. A 4 year old quarter horse gelding recently came to the equine hospital with PHF. I spoke with my vet briefly about it, but I got the feeling the horse had a very slim chance of survival. They have him on ice boots to prevent Laminitis, and so far she said he's shown no signs of suffering from it.
Has anyone ever dealt with PHF, whether it be losing a horse or having a survival story? I am interested to know about this, and should I start vaccinating for it bi-yearly? Supposedly it's a pretty weak vaccine.
