I have decided to geld my 6 yr. Old stallion Dez in the relatively near future, but would like to still be able to tease our mare for breeding AI to a stallion in FL. You can read more about the topic here: http://www.horseforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11720
My questions are:
What exactly is involved in proud cutting? Side effects? Complications? Would he still have to live alone?
What is involved in freezing seamen (from my stallion) to keep?
What is the normal AI breeding process. One of our two vets in town began going on about hormone therapy - I don't think the other vet is as inclined to doing that.
Also best age to geld a colt? (ours is two months now)
What should I be aware of/prepared for when gelding Dez (my six year old)?
Any information about any of this would be greatly appreciated.
Please check out the original thread I linked above to give a more complete picture of everything if this makes no sense. :) :)
