Vet came out today to float my horses teeth today. When he got to my 2 yr old, he said wolf teeth needed pulled. Holy moly! Apparently, the tooth sat on an artery, and when it came out, blood started pouring from his mouth. (To get an idea of the amount of blood and the rate it was coming out, think of dumping a full pitcher of water out....) The vet said that he's pulled probably close to a thousand wolf teeth, and this is only the 3rd time he's seen this happen. He bled heavily like that for about 5 minutes before it slowed and eventually stopped. He is fine, thank God! He gave me something to give him once a day for 4 days in case blood got into his lungs (he also ended up being sensitive to the drugs and went down for a few minutes). I took these horses in about a year ago, because they were being starved, so this was my first experience with floats and extractions. He came highly recommended from dozens of people on a local FB horse group, and he explained everything that was happening, and why, but I am curious if anyone has ever seen something like this. Thanks!
