My mare used to try to bite me while I was cinching her up, a couple good whacks on her side and she learned that I was not going to tolerate that behavior from her. She would also try to bite other horses that were near when I was riding her, she learned that I would not tolerate that either. Horses need to be put in their place and learn what is acceptable behavior. Even if in your situation the horse had bit you by mistake it should have been scolded by its rider or by you. (my 5 year old daughter corrects the horse she rides if it misbehaves, you should be able too as well )

My filly, at one year old once kicked me in the knee for cold hosing (*trying to wash!!!*) her nipples in the middle of summer!

That was a pretty spectacular bruise.

She also stepped on my foot once when my dumb butt was wearing sandals. Left a nice semi circular scar for awhile there.

Actually I think both times she was in heat.

So definitely not a fairy tale, gentle, majestic animal...nothing like the anti-slaughter campaign tries to paint it anyway...some of them are more like us after a harsh PMS day with no chocolate.

Or maybe that's just mares. ;)

lol my walker mare stepped on my foot about a week ago and I now have a hoof print burse on the top of my foot. Every time I see it it makes me laugh...
