I am so sorry for your loss. :( Its a terrible thing when you lose a horse friend. It hurts in its own way but she's in heaven with some little girl who probably always wanted a horse and she isn't in any pain.

Have you thought of feeding her chamomile? A soothing herb for the gut.

Aww I'm so sorry for your loss.

I love this quote, it got me through when we had to put my 19 yr old shep/beagle mix to sleep.
“Life is eternal and love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.”

They will for awhile. It's part of the grieving process.

I read the entire posts. I am so so very sorry Sarah Ann for the loss of your best friend! And all are right..it is not your fault..just so sorry...
The same thing for you too dee, I almost lost a horse from an indirect lightning strike...I prayed all evening..he lived and is my miracle horse, but can't tell you how awful it was that night worrying about him.

Thank you. Today was an okay day. Not as hard as yesterday... But then I come in from the barn after "tucking in" the horses, and my husband (who is a musician) tells me he wrote a song for Rain. Ohhh here we go... Been crying since! I guess its a good healthy cry. We're taking a nice trail ride in Rain's honor Sunday. That will be bittersweet I am sure.

Thanks again everyone for your helpful attitudes while we were struggling earlier in the post, and for your kind words after we said "see you later" to a dear friend. Its very very very appreciated.
