Rainrot?

Today I noticed my moms horse had something odd going on on her back leg, the hair is just flaking off. My first thought was rain rot, but I've never dealt with it before and it doesnt look nearly as discusting as the pictures on the internet. What does it look like to you oh holy forum gurus? And what should we put on it?

*Sorry I know the pictures arent great but the sun was going down and all I had was my phone

YUP! That's rain rot. I would get some Iodine shampo and was the area every other day for a week then every 3 days for a week and so on. Make sure you disinfect EVERY THING!

Oh and I forgot to add. Make sure you gently get all the "scaby" seed looking things off. There are protecting the fungus.

Oh wait so if we need to disinfect everything should we seperate her from the other horses?

I don't think you would have to do that. Just watch the other horses to make sure they don't get it. It wouldnt hurt them to get it. Its just annoying. As long she isnt going to rub the infected area on the other horses it should be fine. Its spread through contact. I hope this helps.
