Reeco going to Horspital

Yep, unfortunatly my beautiful boy is having to go to Horspital.

Some people on here may already know that 3 weeks ago Reeco reared up and went over on me. Rearing is very very out of character for Reeco. I spent 2 weeks recovering.
Last weekend my trainer and I had a session with Reeco doing ground work and it became very very clear that he wasnt happy and possibly in pain. Vet promptly called and though he couldnt find anything prescribed high dose bute for a week
According to the vet the pony should not be in pain with that much bute floating round his system.

Unfortunatly Reeco however IS still in pain and he prooved it today. I asked him to back up (I'm still doing ground work) and he did a very very strange manover with his back end and then shot forward (startled/pain shot forwards). Got my trainer to have a look at him, he is lame behind and when she proded his back near his sacral area Reeco nearly collapsed.

Vet has had a look and wants Reeco to go for spinal Xrays and further investigation at Horspital later in the week (need the bute out of his system first)

Poor pony has quite possibly been in pain for a very long time and had desperatly been trying to tell us! If it is this and we can fix it then I recon I will have a very sweet little pony as my trainer said that she was amazed that he had let me anywhere NEAR his back let alone on him when in that much pain.

Thankgod he is insured and they will pick up the no doubt very large bill.

Check the withers.

I saw a horse go over once and actually break his withers.

Ripper, it is not his withers, I too have seen horses break thier withers going over. Reeco had issues well before he went up and over, I think his rearing was his last ditch attempt at telling me he was in pain.
His issues are in his hind end, specificly around his sacrum we think
