    Second Vet Check?

After months of my horse search, I think I may be finally approaching the end. The horse I've found has just recently been checked by a vet, as the woman who has him now rescued him not too long ago, and he was assessed soon after he arrived. If I were to get the vet record and/or speak with the vet, would you suggest I have him vetted again just to be safe?

You can ask the owner to get a copy of the records, but the vets that I know would consider it a conflict of interest to discuss the horse with you as part of a sale.

I would always get a pre-purchase exam from a vet that I knew and trusted.

Maybe get the first vet report & show it to your vet & see what they say. There may be something in it to investigate further.

I hope you'll tell us all about your new horse when you get him.

A minor thought which I am sure will be of no consequence in the greater scheme of things: If he's just been 'rescued' and he's in recovery (ie putting weight back on, healing, etc.), he may come across as more placid and tractable than he is when in full health.

When is recently? 1 month 2 months 3? Or weeks?
Anything can happen from the time the horse was vetted to if it were me, Id get a second vet check done from my own vet, just to ensure nothing has arisen since he was last vetted
