Severed lateral extensor tendon. Recovery.

I am currently a month in to treating my 23 year old standardbred gelding for a wound that almost completely severed his lateral extensor tendon and caused some nerve damage to the area surrounding it.

I realise we have a very long road ahead of us, but am wondering roughly how long it takes for this kind of injury to heal. A vet has attended to him (on several occasions), but is not particularly experienced with injuries like this so could not give me much of an idea of time frame.

Beauty did the tendon and the lateral something and the sheath. It took her about a year to be as good as she'd ever be.

Thanks Farmpony. Seems we are looking at 6-12 months for recovery.
