Is she in foal, or is she not?

I bought a 5ish year old Paint mare. Thinking she'd never been bred. And I now find out that the stallion on the property had been in with all the mares on numberous times. My mare is now slightly bagging up, you can't go any where near her back end without almost getting kicked. Jo use to be calm and sweet as can be. Can anyone tell me more on how to tell if she with w/o having a vet out?

Without having the vet out??? Call the vet...Veternarians are pleased to help you as much as they can over the phone!!!

I'm having her trailered to a friends house as her vet doesn't charge a farm call, nor an exam charge, Just the preg check. So instead of paying over 250 for my vet, My friends is only going to cost 20 for gas and 35 for the vet. But that's not going to happen till Thurs. So I was curious if anyone knew if *maiden* mares can bag up at all and get waxy. As far as I know I don't think that they do, but I may, and in the past have been, mistaken.

If she is bagging up then there is a good chance she is in foal, if you are unsure do get your vet out to check

Maiden mares do bag up and get waxy just like any other pregnaucy

And by the sounds of it with her bagging up she hasnt got long to go you could be a proud mummy soon

I think I should rephrase myself, By madien I meant that the mare hadn't been bred yet. Cause I'm not entirely sure she's been bred. THe stud just kept getting loose with the mares. And she's always been calm and sweet. Right now it's taking 2 people to check her and to clean her back side. She's never been like this and it's rather concerning.

And I'd love to check out the other preg. Topic. But I'm afraid I've been unable to find it. I've only been on here for a little less than 24 hours. So do you think that you can link me. Please?
