Exclamation Shots...

I need a list of shots to give a 2 1/2 year old horse who has never had shots before.

What shots will the horse need to if it is around outside horses and at shows?

Would the horse get it's vaccines all at the same time, just like a regular horse who has had them...?

Thanks

Shots/Vaccines are the same thing.

I'd go with the 5-way if your vet carries them. This includes vaccines for tetanus (Tetanus toxoid), EEE (Eastern Encephalomyelitis),WEE (Western Encephalomyelitis), Influenza and Rhino (Rhinopneumonitis).
Travelling a lot, I'd also consider your West Nile Virus vaccine.

Your veterinarian may have other vaccination recommendations based on your area. You may also need Rabies, Potomac horse fever, ect.

Also, Since your horse has not had vaccinations before, he will need a booster series 28 days after the first series. Some vaccinations may not need a booster in 28 days. Vaccines like rabies, and some west Nile versions, only require a booster 6 months after the first then yearly thereafter.

Here is a quick vaccination list on my web site (currently under construction)

Hope this helps.

Thank you. This is exactly what I was wondering, about the booster shots, etc.

An excellent resource is the American Association of Equine Practitioners web site, however, the site is down at the moment but here is the link when it's back up.
