So I got the call today. My yearling is sick. He had a fever of 105.3 and wasn't eating. (I don't get to see him every day because I'm a college student and the nearest quality stable is an hour away) but I have some good friends at the barn and they let me know and thankfully the vet was already there and looked him over. It's not colic. They took blood samples and gave him something for the fever. His other symptoms are lethargy and somewhat heavy breathing. The weather has been really crazy here the past few days and 2 of the other horses got sick recently. I know he will get better but my nerves are so bad I can barely stand it. The last time a horse of mine had an emergency, I was 12 and he had to be put down so if you can imagine my terror. Tempo is about 15 months old and I've had him since he was 5 months old so he is my baby. I just really need some encouragement now.
