Skin problem

My horse has had an on going skin problem for more than one year. We have tried many different ointments, sprays, medicinal medicines and antibiotics but nothing seems to work. Our vet did a skin scraping of the wound and the lab work results showed it was not caner. Can anyone help or give suggestions?

I'd seriously concider getting a different vet out offence to the one you have, sometimes 2 heads are better than one. That's a long time to have a skin problem. I'd seen a second opinion. (from a vet) Good luck!

Mmm very weird! It isn't sunburn is it? Or a fungi? What ointments have you used and what suggestions has your vet had?

Sun burn would be my first thought too and depending on your horse's overall health and what he may be eating out in the pasture it's a definite possibilty. Certain plants make horses more sensisitive to sun exposure and white areas tend to be more sensitive anyway. I would try keeping a heavy sunscreen on his nose or keeping him in during the day and turning him out at night to see if it helps.

A second opinion from another vet would also be a good idea since this has been ongoing for so long and your vet hasn't offered any new options.
