Sore Neck

Hey
I was wondering if anyone could help as looking it up on the internet isn't proving much help, but my cob mare is very overweight at the moment (not sure if this could have anything to do with it) and currently living out, I was down the yard the other day and she has got very touchy with her neck, I noticed her mane has thinned slightly and she never puts her ears back to anyone, yet I touched her crest/mane and she's in clear pain.
Anyone know what could be her problem. I did think perhaps she's itching on the fence but can't imagine it would cause her that much pain?

I'd get a vet or chiro out to try and help her. If her neck is swollen, that's never good. Can she put it down normally to eat? Have you given vaccines recently? She could be allergic.

When was she last wormed?

The soreness is probably from rubbing since you said her mane has thinned.

Worms can cause horses to be itchy.
