My 2 year old filly has a very sore neck. I had my friend looked at her today and we figured out where the pain is coming from. Its right at her throat latch. Pretty much were her Esophagus starts. She was fine this morning but this afternoon I saw her, and she couldn't lift her head past her whithers and was very uncomfortable when we her touching her neck. She did lift her head and bend her neck to both sides but was in real pain when she did it.She did eat her grain when we were there. There would be no way for her to catch anything from another horse, since she has never left the property and no other horses have been around mine in a few years. I'm just hoping she scraped her throath on the inside and its just painful to move her neck around. If she doesn't improve by morning a trip to the vets is planed.
Anyone else every had anything like this happen to your horses??

She seems to be feeling better this morning. No discharge from her nose. Her temp was normal. She was eating her hay, grain and drinking like normal. She was even lifting her head up and trying to bend it to the sides a bit. She's still sore in her throat but was letting me feel around it. It seems to be only really sore on her left side. She was trotting around the pasture and being herself but still real sore.
The only time I can get a chiropractor out is the first weekend of May. My boss came out and looked at her and said her neck was fine just her throat is bothering her.
