Speed of weight gain

Hi there!
Ok so my question to all you lovely folk is what is a good rate for a horse to regain weight.
When we picked my gelding up from his previous neglectful owners he looked like this

This is 4 weeks later

Images are a little grainy but you get the basic idea
Anyways I'm aware he still has a while to go but I guess I'm just wondering whether the progress he's made in that time frame is good? Or otherwise comments ?

He looks good. I've fattened a few skinnies in my time and they all gained a little different. Most of them that last 100 lbs seems to take forever. When they are that skinny they have lost a lot of muscle mass. Pretty much the body starts consuming itself in an attempt to stay alive.

Whatever you are doing it's working.

Thankyou.
Good to get reassurance he's on track!! :):)
It's hard to tell when I see him daily I forget how bad he was to start with!!!
Thanks
