Question Sprained Ankle?

Hi everyone,

For the first time in two weeks, I rode my gelding two days ago. I warmed him up, he didn't trip or anything.. But I asked him and he willingly went into a canter. At first it felt like small bucks, so I halted, and asked for a canter again. This time my mom was watching. According to her he was hopping. I got of immeadatley, I think it was his hind right that he was favoring. He wasn't quite limping, but he was walking "right". I figure it was his ankle, or the joint fetlock area. His cannon wasn't swollen at all. He flinched when I felt the area. What should I do for him? Today I was going to lunge him, hoping to see exactly what's going on for myself. Any suggestions? Thanks.
