Squamous cell carcinoma

Hi all. I have a horse we rescued with cancer on his private area it was something you can tell that was ignored for years and years. We are trying to treat it the best we can till we can get some funding for surgery. I have been using black salve and for a while it seemed to really help him. I have stopped for now because its been so cold and it has to washed off after a few hours. After I have stopped he seems to have gotten more swollen maybe the cool water was in fact helping him to keep it under control. He seems happy and ok I am guessing it bugs me more then him but is there something safe to put on him?

I would do whatever your vet recommended. You might do some research yourself. I find this website http://www.thehorse.com/ very helpful for horse health issues. You do have to register but they have great information.
