    Strange lump?

Today I was wrapping Mudpie's legs and about to put him away, and I noticed a strange lump on the middle/rightish of Mudpie's chest. There was no excess heat in the area, and it was not sore to him at all. It was pretty flabby and squishy, too.

Sorry for the bad lighting, it was dark and the arena lights were all I had.

The vet's office is closed all weekend, and because there was no immediate pain or soreness, or heat, I decided not to make an emergency call. On Monday I will definitely give them a call and ask them about it.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? I don't want to freak out, unless freaking out is in order. Thanks. :P

Could be pigeon fever. You're in the right area for it and a lump on the chest is a typical symptom.

ETA: In which case, isolate him as it's communicable. I'd call the vet out, I understand pigeon fever can get pretty complicated although my knowledge is limited to what I remember from my US-published veterinary handbook, as we don't have it over here.

I'll call the vet ASAP on Monday. Mudpie tends to get hives all over his body from bug bites, and they're always very similar to this, so I'm hoping for the best here. I'll watch it closely.

Thanks. Pigeon fever is bad. Very bad. I really, really hope he doesn't have it.
