Strange Scabs

Hi everyone,

My mare gets little skin problems around her hindquarters and her belly, which turn to scabs and then fall off. They don't seem to irritate her, and she doesn't flinch when I touch them. I don't think they are bites because they don't get swollen or bleed or anything, and I don't think its a skin condition because it never appears on her neck, shoulders, legs or near her spine. The only thing I can think of is that they are to do with the heat, but apart from put cream on them I don't really know what to do. I spoke to my vet who didn't seem concerned about them as they aren't causing pain. Any one have any other ideas? Or anyways I can prevent them? Although I've been told they are just cosmetic, if anyone can help me it would be better for her.

Thanks in advance :)
