Straw For Bedding that is about 10 years old. Is it okay
We recently purchased an 8 month old quarterhorse stallion. We are keeping him at my brothers farm. The old red barn that is huge, is loaded with old bales of straw. The entire upstairs is full. Is it okay to use this straw for bedding? My husband is concerned that it is so old it may be harmful in some way. Maybe mold spores or something I am not sure. It doesn't appear to be moldy. But he said this evening that straw is so old the baling twine is disintegrating. Just wanted to see what you all thought about that. THanks in advance for your thoughts.
