Smile Stretch!

Do you'all like to stretch your horse before you ride/lunge?
If so, what do you do?

As for me, before I ride, I like to stand infront of my horse and pick her front feet up, hold at the knee and pull towards me a little. This helps set the girth and prevent pinching. And it feels good. Then I take her hoof and hold the tip and pull her leg straight out, very gently. I won't go any farther than she'll give.
I also like to stretch her back feet out bu picking them up, then pulling them forward gently and then back.
This might sound terrible, but my horse LOVES it. I hold onto her tail bone and lean back. She's stretches her neck out and sometimes she even groans. She looooves it.
And even though it's not stretching, I like to really massage her neck. IT helps when we do circles, or if I haven't ridden her in a while.
Northern likes this.

You're a very good friend to your horse to do those stretches for her; but then, she already told you that! ;)
