Realistically speaking, let's say 100,000 people sign this pitition. I'd say that would be a lot! There are 7,000,000,000 people in this world. That means 1 in 70,000 people would be "aware" (through probably don't care anymore then to put their names onto an internet survey. Call their house and ask for a buck, I'm sure they would slam the phone down or threaten to sue you for harassment). Unless you go down there and make the tourists aware of what's happening (which, they starve there horses. I'm sure they wouldn't have any moral qualms about making you quietly disappear). Do they have an animal welfare society down there? The only other radical situation I can think of is opening up your own place and advertising how well kept you horses are, eventually running many of them out of business and hopefully setting a good example to people who would like to change.

There is animal welfare here - all I want to do is get the government to enforce the animal protection and control act enforced - the drivers/owners need to be made accountable for the condition of their horses - if you are a tradesman and one of your tools is broken then you can't do your job - the surrey rides are important to the tourists industry and therefore tourism needs to take more responsibility in doing something about this

I admire your courage and heart for doing this. It is very hard o watch any animal suffer. I do think something should be done. And it sounds Like you are doing all you can. Even if you only save one it is good.. I've worked in rescue and it hard when you want to save all. Good luck with your petition and your efforts.. Listin to others here though The media is a great way too Call GMA or the rachel ray show. Even Ellen. They do a show on something like this and I bet people take action.

I read the thread on COTH.

They get theses horses from the Amish? How in the world do they afford to ship these horses into the country.....

I don't know how they pay for the horses to come in - they probably don't - they come in through the back door because they have a brother who has a cousin who has an uncle who works in..... this is what I have heard

Thank you - I just hope that what we are doing here can improve the situation - it's is very difficult when you want to save them all - just like you said - but hopefully something will get done

You are soliciting money for the rescue of so-called Bahama Surrey horses? Or some such...? Prove you are real and have any modicum of control over the well being of these horses and that you are not just beating a drum to enrichen your own poke.
That is what I am talking about. Get it? If you are indeed real... I do have a Coot amphibian and can be anywhere in the Bahamas in an hour or so. You prove you are real, that the money is for the horses and not you... and I will prove who I am by giving you the tail number of my aircraft along with as filed flight plan. Cowboy
