Question swelling

Hi guys my horse tripped on a small log the other day and it a has made her back right leg swollen I've stopped riding her of course and twice a day I run cold water over the swelling for 10 mins or more and every1 1/2 day stick on a apple cider vinagur poltice on for 12 hours to reduce the swelling I've had a bowen horse practicioner come out and have a look she said there is not fracter and she's just a bit sore.

She is turning 17 soon so she getting on a bit but still a very lively horse bucks rear bolts but at the moment the lip is hurting her back I have had other horse people look at her they say the same am I doing enough Sometimes you just need some one else to have think about it I'm going to buy some rapi gel for her but it's not arthritis.any thing thts worked on your horses please help

I've had good luck with epsom salts. For a leg what I do is fill a bucket with warm water, and add a healthy amount of epsom salts, dissolve the salt and soak a towel in it, then apply the towel to swollen area and hold it there til it cools some, then repeat.

Putting cold water or ice and stall rest or a small paddock to limit movement for a few days works the best in my experience for sprains...and they usually take 5-10 days to fully heal up.

Is the horse a little lame, or alot lame. If she's alot lame it could be a microtare. Is a "bowen horse practicioner" a vet?

No not a vet but the vets here took one look at her one time when she was limp badly and said she was faking so in my vets don't know all She quite stiff is the problem she walk normal on all other leg but the sore leg she doesn't use the knee much or swing her hips they just move when It is feed time she'll still canter up with the others I just think she has sprained it.

Because she just looks sore Like if you get a sprain you limp if you can but you can jog it just hurts I don't think she would run for food if it was a microtare do you?
I'll try epsom salts thank I was think of giving her a two to three month brake she is such a good horse I want to let it heal perfect and let her fatten up bit and be a horse for while, while I work with my others
