So I have a 1 1/2 year old filly. Starting this winter I started feeding my thoroughbred alfalfa cause it helped them gain/keep weight on. Well very slowly I noticed my (slowly) no heat or lameness, I started cold hosing it 2-3 times a day for 30 minutes a day, no luck it kept getting worse. Had the vet out and she said it was due to the alfalfa, my filly can not process it well. SO... we not seperate her so she gets no alfalfa what so ever, this was about 2-3 weeks ago, the swelling has gone down (its kind of like stocking up) but not fast enough lol.
I was wondering what causes this? And why?
Is there anything I can do to get the swelling to do down faster?
I just put her on msm 3 days ago, hoping that helped some.
Anyone else have experience with this?
