Swelling Fetlock

The other day when I went to ride my horse I noticed his fetlock joint was swollen. I checked it for heat and there wasn't any, he also let me handle it without any signs of pain. I lunged him so I could check for signs of pain or stiffness. He was fine at the walk and trot but at the canter he was very stiff on that leg. I hosed it and put liniment on it. The next day he was fine and the swelling had gone away. I think standing in his stall caused it to swell. I turned him out over night and when he came in it was fine. What should I do? He has had tons of problems with this leg after a horse had kicked him. I've had a vet check him and they cleared him to ride. They said he may have mild arthritis.

It's called stocking up. What you can do is not stall your horse. Did the swelling go down after exercise? Also stalling will aggrevate arthritis.
