Exclamation Swollen Eye

Uh this will probably be the second time we get the vet out to William this month :( and i'm not sure whether it is the same thing or not...

He had a mild allergic reaction to fly bites and I called the vet out to check for any respiratory reaction (and just to confirm that it was bites).

Now he has a swelling on his eye (bottom eyelid), there is some tear fluid coming out. Yesterday he had some gunky stuff, I don't know if that is anything to do with it, there is none now. I don't know whether it is a bite, he has bashed it or an infection.

Is there anything I can do for the time being? I will call the vet tomorrow (unless it is better).

Advice please!

give him some banamine and then put a fly mask on because if the actual eye is involved (and it's not just an allergic reaction) then it will be sensitive to the light.. Of course you know...Since it's the eye... you really want the vet out though.

yeah he had a fly mask on...
About half an hour ago I went to see him and the swelling was about half the size it was 2 hours before. So whats the situation now? Does that mean its ok?

could it be hay fever? The swelling has gone but he has runny and itchy eyes.

I have a riding lesson tonight so will get someone to look at him at the stables.

Anyone have a horse with 'hay fever'?

Put used tea bags on it for 10 mins and then see how he is do this twice a day and it should clear up. It could be the fies aggitating them. My old pony literally looked like he was dyiing in the summer with his eyes.
