Horses teeth are constantly growing, aren't they? So, does anyone know how fast they grow? Alli's front teeth have worn away at an angle from her windsucking and, now I have managed to get the widsucking to a minimum, I was wondering how long it will take for the teeth to grow out. Shes out 24/7 so munching pretty much always!
My vet told me they need their teeth floated every 12- 18 months so I'd assume it takes a good amount of time to see any considerable growth, at least a year. Posted via Mobile Device
A horse's incisors, premolars, and molars, once fully developed, continue to erupt as the grinding surface is worn down through chewing. A young adult horse's teeth are typically 4.5-5 inches long, but the majority of the crown remaining below the gumline in the dental socket. The rest of the tooth slowly emerges from the jaw, erupting about 1/8" each year, as the horse ages.
