Unhappy Tendon injuries?

Having tendon injuries in both back legs, is it that unusal? Does that indicate a medical condition? However we have been told that Mikey (horse with two back leg tendon injuries) was worked hard and inappropriatley. But we have begun to wonder that seeing as tendon injuries in more than one leg is very unusual that it might indicate a condition?

Mikey is fully healed and working again I was just curious about his previous owners honesty.
