Exclamation Thoroughbreds AND people on here! Stop with the finger pointing.

Okay, I've been on here a while just searching through what people have been saying about Thoroughbreds.. It seems that ALOT of people believe TB's are a nasty hot headed horse and people shouldnt get them. Well, Id like to say to them Get Your Facts Right! Not all Tb's are physco horses. Infact any horse can be a physco so don't go pointing your fat or skinny fingers at the breed of horse. I got called all sorts of names when I bought myself a Four year old Off the track. She only had two races and got chucked into a paddock and left there to starve and get beat up by other horses. She's a lovely girl to ride and hasnt put a foot wrong, and im not an experianced rider!! Im 17, and have only ever ridden 'pony club' horses. Anyways, I know of many TB horses that are the most amazing, loving and caring animals. Its not the breed, its the way people treat them and use them. Any horse can be a physco and any horse can be amazing.

Must be why more Thoroughbreds are being adopted than Standardbreds ...

I haven't seen any of this breed bashing?

Right. I don't know where your "facts" are coming from but a lot of people on here actually have OTTB and a lot of people have crosses and TBS and whatnot.

Maye you should do a little bit of research before you go on a hatefest against everybody here.

EVERYBODY doesn't have to like TB's just like EVERYODY wont like grades, QH, drafts, arabs whatever.

If you don't like hearing about people not liking a breed, then don't read it.

Just because we don't recommend TBs for beginners does not, in any way, shape or form, mean we hate them. One of my favorite horses ever is an OTTB gelding and I'd love to get him for my boyfriend.

TBs tend to be very forward and retraining one off the track is a HUGE undertaking. I've helped retrain two off the track and it was more work and took more patience than even breaking out my gelding a couple of years ago.

Like others said: you might want to not go on a hating rampage without knowing what you're talking about.

Are you on the right forum? I haven't seen any bashing towards TBs.

Ash27, welcome to the forum, and I do hope you'll find enjoyment in being a member when you've cooled off! This is a friendly forum, and we are all reminded of that upon logging in. I've not heard any TB bashing, but I do wish to remind you that you'll make far better friends in the future by not telling people they are "pointing their fat or skinny fingers" at the breed. If you should ever need sound advice or encouragement, however, there are many educated and experienced horse people who will be there for you. Far more willingly if respect and politeness are part of your plan :)

LOL. This is the most 'TB-friendly' forum I have EVER seen. In fact there is so little 'breed-bashing' here for any breed... I've only ever seen it in jest.
(Okay, maybe Appys, everyone hates Appys )

Anyway, the only 'bad words' I've seen posted about TB's are in relation to inexperienced horse owners looking at buying young OTTB's- words of wisdom from current OTTB owners suggesting they aren't very beginner-friendly. Which is true, young OTTB's aren't horses that have had oodles of training, you're not going to pull them off the track and expect them to be perfect, gentle pretty ponies, they need training. Period. That seems to be the general consensus amongst us, right folks? That doesn't make us meanie TB-haters.

OP, indeed, welcome to the forum. Perhaps by now you've had a little more time to look around and get a better sense of what this place is all about. I think what you might be reading as "bashing" is more cautioning. For the record, I have an OTTB, I find him hot headed and not for a beginner, though that is what I was when I got him. While there are many that are not "high" horses, TBs have been bred to be very energetic and yes, even hot. I have seen no bashing on this forum, I'd be very sensitive to this and wouldn't have missed it. But just because TBs are incredible and have, IMHO, more positive traits than negative, doesn't mean they are for everyone or that they are all the same.

For the record, I am also a pit bull owner and advocate, but I recognize this breed also has special considerations and don't feel everyone should own one!

*looks around*

Did I miss something? Last I checked a majority of us were in love with TB's. I have a handful of school horses that I use for lunge line beginners that are retrained OTTB's. I guess I missed the memo on hating them
