I guess I should try and get my mare back to the owners who let her lose a bunch of weight in 2 months then..

I will say, TBs are not my first choice if breed since I mainly barrel race and game..BUT, I did get myself a nice lesson horse. Haven't seen much of the trot or canter just yet, but she walks with her head level with her withers. I guess that apparently makes her insane..lol.

Might help if you explained what "physco" is.....

TB's are great horses but a horse that has been trained to do nothing but run as fast as it can in one direction only.... definitely not a great choice for a beginning rider!

My kids learned to ride on an OTTB, one that had been properly re-trained and had many, many, many miles/years put on her before kids got anywhere near her.

Well crap! I got here after the OP already left and took the ball home!!! Boo! Anyway, I have a TB and love him to death. Was told he was never on the track but I am not sure of that. I have NEVER seen any TB bashing on this forum!

QUICK, what should I do with the five that we have on our farm right now?! Dig a big hole? Maybe let them out on the highway?

Lolz! I didn't know I hated mine either. Guess I can stop buying the more expensive feed, and the supplements for healthy digestion, and those heavy lined blankets to make up for his little peach fuzz winter coat, and I can quit paying the good farrier who knows the difference between a quarter horse hoof and a thoroughbred hoof... I don't know why I didn't see it before. Maybe I was blinded by cuddles and and goofy antics and love and devotion...

The other funny thing is, I rode quarter horses for the first 4 years of my riding career. When I started taking lessons, my instructor's lesson horse was... An Arab. Now, the most docile, intelligent, loyal horse I have ever been around is... my thoroughbred, a 6 year old OTTB at that! AND! The only horse that has every a) run me over, b) bit me, and c) has thrown me just out of pure, evil spite, was... a quarter! Crazy, huh?

But still, I guess I'll have to send mine packing. I'd hate to go against the community here. Back to the track, Riley!
