Thoughts on adding this supplement.

My mare is fugly. I will straight up tell anyone that, including Abby herself. She is a pretty colour, but conformation and body condition-wise..gross. She had a rough winter with ulcers, being moved to a new barn twice, and a lot of anxiety and dropped over 100lbs. She didn't look too hot. She's gained most of it back, but just did not fill in very well.

For the past 3 months, she was ridden twice a day, 4 days a week on flat trail rides and in hilly pastures. She's lean, but still..bony and awkward. Now she's back to being at the barn where we'll still go on rides and work in the arena, but it's all flat. Our access to hills is completely gone.

I just got a small catalogue from SmartPak listing all of their new supplements, one being SmartMuscle Mass. Do you think it would do Abby some good? She used to be a bulked up mare, but now she's just..not.

She doesn't need anything special. She does need more food. It's evident with the chestnut next to her that they all aren't getting enough. If she's on pasture and eating all she can than you need to add some extra calories (more protein wouldn't hurt either for muscle) like alfalfa hay or a concentrate.

She was group fed over the summer with about 7 other horses (one being that chestnut. I don't own her though). She's back on her normal individual diet. She'll be on free choice hay soon, after my BO gets the outside pasture set up for her and 3 other horses in addition to her grain. I'm not sure if that'll be enough with winter only a couple months away.
